MIKE LAWLER
Defending the American Dream
“By expanding housing opportunities, removing unnecessary barriers, and making government work better, we’re helping restore the promise that if you work hard and play by the rules, you can build a future, put down roots, and own a home in the community you love.
The American Dream shouldn’t be reserved for a select few. It should be well within the reach of every hardworking family.”
– Congressman Mike Lawler

The Issues
Mike Lawler Stood Up for Small Businesses and Communities Like Yours.
ROAD to Housing
Mike voted for the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, now law, which expands housing supply, removes barriers to homeownership, modernizes federal housing programs, and creates more opportunities for families to achieve the American Dream.
Unlocking Inventory
Mike supports the More Homes on the Market Act, which would double the current capital gains exclusion for homeowners when selling their principal residence and index it to future inflation. Without the fear of a massive tax liability, more long-time homeowners will be incentivized to sell their homes and help alleviate the inventory shortage.
SALT
Mike supported increasing the state and local tax deduction limit, meaning many more current and prospective homeowners will be able to receive federal tax benefits for owning and purchasing a home and will have lower taxes.
Investing in Our Neighborhoods
Mike supports bipartisan legislation that would provide tax credits to incentivize private investors to build and rehabilitate owner-occupied homes. The Neighborhood Homes Investment Act could bring more than half a million affordable homes to the market.
Helping Veterans with Home Buying
Mike understands the challenges many vets and enlisted military members face when looking to purchase a home in the current market. That’s why he supports ensuring veterans are fully informed about the VA home loan benefits they’ve earned through their service.
